I've been an athlete my whole life. For years that meant hauling tubs of supplements everywhere — scoops, spills, powder everywhere. Packets were cleaner, but one-use and moisture-sensitive. Every time I mixed something, I thought: this is a solved problem that nobody solved.
Then I had two sons, both born through IVF. Both needed a medical thickener mixed into their formula overnight to prevent choking. I'd sit in the dark holding a baby on my chest — terrified to put him down — trying to measure and mix with one hand. There was no good way.
Around the same time, my father was in the hospital being treated for cancer. Nurses would bring powdered medications and say "mix these in." He couldn't do it alone. Inconsistent doses. Airborne contamination. A simple task made impossible.
"He passed. Going through his things, I found a disposable camera he had left for me."
My father spent his career as an optical engineer. When I held that camera and pressed the shutter, I understood exactly what I needed to build — a mechanism that contains, aligns, and releases only when conditions are right.
DualDose was born from that moment. Built for the athlete at the gym. The parent at 3am. The patient who shouldn't have to struggle. And for my dad, who showed me — without meaning to — exactly how to build it.
